My personal experience at Golden City Chinese Restaurant was nothing short of amazing. The Sesame chicken was a standout dish, with pounded chicken breast topped with pureed shrimp and coated in sesame seeds. The Sizzling black pepper beef ribs were juicy and packed with flavor, perfect with white rice. The Stir-fried fresh frog legs were a true delicacy, showcasing the fresh and tender meat. The Salted fish, chicken, and eggplant hot pot was a classic dish executed perfectly, while the Crabmeat and fish maw soup was a savory delight.

The food was delectable and the service was impeccable. We attended a friend's BD party and it was a 8 courses meal. The appetizers were delicious and the multiple main courses were well executed.

They will be happy to customize any dish or cooking style. I like to take my family there on New Year's eve, they have a very large dining area and the tables have a large turntable to make sharing family style. The service is prompt and friendly. They have many authentic Chinese dishes as well as"American style " Chinese dishes Prices are moderate. Overall a pleasant dining experience.

Authentic Chinese cuisine. Vast variety of dishes and flavors. Fine choice and a must have for homesick people who needs comfort of familiarity.

This review is purely about the takeout food. Overall, it's a solid, authentic Chinese food, probably one of the best in this area -- this is NOT the spot to go for ambiance or service. It's all about the unique dishes. Highlights: - Peking duck: a whole order is $45 but worth it. Comes with choice of pancakes or buns, with brown sauce and scallions - Deep fried squid with salted dressing: salty, fried breaded squid and even comes with some fried sweet potato on side - Chinese broccoli in Oyster sauce: large portion and flavorful Less enthused: - sesame chicken with minced shrimp: this used to be WAY better in the past; recently it seems a bit overstuffed with shrimp vs an even ratio of chicken and shrimp. Covered by thin fried sesame seed coating. Still worth it do you like shrimp and sesame - beef chow fun: the flavors were just ok, had better elsewhere - mapo tofu: wish it had more heat, tasted a bit mild and lacked the spicy umami flavor i'm used to Portions are generous and flavors are overall solid and satisfying. Definitively recommend takeout.

Old school Chinese restaurant with old school vibe. The place looks like it hasn't been updated since the mid-70s, probably because it hasn't. Has things like shark fin soup, birds nest soup and stir fried frog, so it's pretty legit. I see a bunch of reviews knocking the place for food, atmosphere and service, but I'm pretty sure they were expecting Panda Express or something. Food was great. Simple, fresh and flavorful. Reminds me of fancy dark sit down Chinese joints of the past. Totally going back at some point in the future.

This combines the best cooking in Chinatown (same family as the iconic and now closed Joy Tsin Lau) with the ease of NOT having to shell out $15+ for 2 hours of parking downtown. I am not sure why the rating is so low but the food here is much better and more authentic than what you can find in Philly's Chinatown right now. The servers and owners are very kind and took us in on Christmas Eve even when they were overwhelmed with takeout orders. We will definitely be back soon for our next family dinners. So glad we decided to venture out here and rediscovered this gem! Some must-try dishes: 1. Sesame chicken: Amazing HUGE concoction with pounded chicken breast topped with pureed shrimp all deep fried and coated in sesame seeds with a side of creamy sweet dressing. I ate an entire huge breast (they are sliced0 by myself because it was just that good. 2. Sizzling black pepper beef ribs: Juicy and tender and oh-so-flavorful that comes out on a sizzling platter. The sauce is amazing over white rice. I am not a fan of white rice but I will eat it with this sauce, 3. Stir fried fresh frog legs: Yes the frog is fresh and live! The meat is incredibly juicy and silky and you can taste the freshness. So much better than what they have at any of the Chinatown locations. 4. Salted fish, chicken, and eggplant hot pot: A classic and very nicely executed. The flavors are spot-on and the eggplant cooked perfectly. 5. Crabmeat and fish maw soup: Another classic but this version comes with a TON of crabmeat. Savory and the perfect opening course.
